Design values of the shape in Egyptian heritage arts between essence and function Experimental study

Abstract

Reading and taking inspiration from heritage is a process based on a philosophical understanding of heritage. When a designer is fully aware of what they choose or exclude from heritage, a designer must answer the following questions: What kind of heritage do we deal with? What units, components or shapes do we choose? How do we address elements of heritage and inspire contemporary design? There is a difference between meditation leading to evolution and meditation leading to transport, simulation and imitation and heritage is a wide and complex formative field. Are we inspired by the formal concepts and patterns of heritage, or do we take the design values of the structure of the different formats, whether linear, geometric, simple, or composite in formations of overlap, overlap, abstraction, alteration, and simplification to produce different formations that are authentic and contemporary? Since the curriculum of the Faculty of Artistic Education in the material of decorative designs of the Second Division provides for interest in heritage, study and taste formally, the problem of current research on finding an innovative and different vision for addressing elements of heritage in order to reach decorative designs based on the inspiration of Egyptian heritage (Ancient Egyptian Art - Coptic Art - Islamic Art - Popular Art), and research aims at: Study the relationship between the design values of the shape and the essence of its construction and their role in enriching decorative designs, and find contemporary experimental entrances to enrich the language of communication between design and heritage. The research addressed this in the theoretical framework through the following: Study the design values of the shape in heritage between authenticity and contemporary and then look for the essence of the design formulations of the shape in the heritage between fixed and variable, The research then touched on experimental entrances based on the study of the design values of the shape in heritage by analyzing the experimental entrances in the structure of the internal shape and the experimental entrances in the structure of the external form and finally presenting the most important axes produced by the theoretical framework of the research, and finally the practical framework and the research experience.
