Abstract

This research aims to enhance the quality of life for workers in the maritime sector by designing specialized workwear that meets their needs in a challenging and harsh working environment. The study highlights the importance of providing clothing that combines functionality and aesthetics, offering essential protection against harsh environmental factors such as humidity, water, and ultraviolet rays, while ensuring comfort and elegance to improve workers' performance and well-being. Maritime workers face significant challenges, including the risks of slipping, fires, exposure to weather conditions, and contact with petroleum and chemical substances. Surveys and interviews were conducted to collect data from workers, revealing their need for clothing that provides protection, comfort, and freedom of movement. Based on these findings, new workwear prototypes were developed and proven effective. The study recommends adopting standardized criteria for designing maritime workwear and encouraging industries to implement these standards to ensure a safe and comfortable working environment for workers in this critical sector.
